Movie Review: Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Watched this movie for the second time last night, and came away really enjoying it more. I picked up on more of the laughs, and found that a lot of the coincidences are less so, when you watch.
The movie centers around composer Peter Bretter's (Jason Segel/Marshall from HIMYM)break-up with TV star Sarah Marshall, her hook up with a hair band lead singer, and his vacation to Hawaii where of course, Sarah Marshall is also vacationing.
The movie is hilarious, from the Dracula musical (see above) to the rock star wanna be host at the restaurant. The laughs come from the moments we all know (break-ups) and making them absolutely ridiculous ("You wore sweatpants for a week." "Oh but if they were Sean John sweats it wouldn't have mattered."). And the a lot of the quick flashes, a la How I Met Your Mother. Great laughs.
Russel Brand absolutely steals the show with his take on an Oasis style rock star. His lines are completely subtle, and yet brilliantly hilarious. You really have to see the movie twice to pick up on all of his humor. To the point where even Bretter has to admit that he's a cool guy.
A great, great comedy I can't recommend highly enough.

I just caught this on demand on Thanksgiving night. Without a doubt, it’s my favorite comedy of the year. I think much of the credit has to go to the supporting cast and Jason Segel’s script.
Did you ever catch Freaks and Geeks? It was one of the best shows canceled before its time.
We loved it too so it's not just funny to its contemporaries.
